About GibbsCAM POST and MachineSIM

 About GibbsCAM POST :

GibbsCAM old version use .pst Postprocessor, new version use .post, totally different and .post can't use for old version.

Normally JeffCNC customize .pst Postprocessor because .post more expensive. JeffCNC want customer save money so price for .pst only, and .pst still can use for new version.

When .pst use for new version, GibbsCAM will give you a notice, you can cancel the notice if you don't like it.

JeffCNC can update .pst to .post for new version but should quote first and charge more money because will take time update and do more test.

About GibbsCAM MachineSIM:

JeffCNC can customize good MachineSIM depend on 3 price levels, please quote:
1, don't have machine model
2, have machine model
3, need macros for door movement and frame auto transparency

Normally JeffCNC customize MachineSIM without macros because save time and customer can save money.

But level 3 MachineSIM will be high value and beautiful, please see detail info:

Recently, JeffCNC made high value Haas VF2 5 axis MachineSIM for machine simulation:

When you select MachineSIM, you will see door open automatically as a movie:

When you start MachineSIM, door will closed and machine frame will change transparency.

Now, you don't need change machine parts setup, you see inside very clearly.

And so on…

When finish, if you want Rewind, you will see door open again automatically as a movie:

Here is machine simulation videos, very interesting.

What's difference with AC or AB 5 axis programming?

Posted by JEFFCNC on July 2, 2019 at 5:30 PM Comments comments (0)

What's difference with AC or AB 5 axis programming?

Recently, JeffCNC customize good AC 5 axis POST for customer, and then he need customize new AB 5 axis POST, but he test with same CAM file always have problem.

For Gibbs 5 axis programming, XY plan should exactly mach your machine, so programming for AC and AB 5 axis machine will be different.

For example, for AC 5 axis machine XY plan maybe like this:

But, for AB 5 axis machine XY plan should be like this:

Here is machine simulation for AB 5 axis machine programming.

A0.B0. position should be like this:

After A axis rotate then do OP1:

And then OP2 do 5 axis simultaneous:

And then do OP3:

And then do OP4:…

Here is machine simulation for AC 5 axis machine programming.
Now, we can see A0.C0. position should be like this:

OP1 in XY plan so don't need rotate:

And then OP2 do 5 axis simultaneous:

And so on…

Here is video for AB 5 axis machine simulation:

Here is video for AC 5 axis machine simulation:

How to customize machine simulation for dual trunnion?

Recently, JEFF CNC developing good machine simulation for dual trunnion.

You know Haas VF3 SST 5 Axis milling machine have two C-Axis trunnion, but  5 axis programming always use one zero and stock for one job only.

So, I have to made two MachineSim, right MachineSim for right trunnion, left MachineSim for left trunnion.

I think this is the only way for two trunnion machining and simulation, I test both work OK.
.
1, Use regular 5Axis programming :

.

2, Select right MachineSim for right trunnion machining:

.

3, You will see right trunnion machining OK:

.

.

.

4, If you select left MachineSim for left trunnion:

.

5, You will see left trunnion machining OK too:

.

.

.

You don’t need worry about your parts on which trunnion, programming same. You don’t need change anything for Machine Simulation, it's very easy.

.

6, Here is videos for Machine Simulation:

GibbsCAM Tombstone Management System

Posted by JEFFCNC on October 30, 2014 at 6:30 PM Comments comments (0)

GibbsCAM Tombstone Management System

Tombstones are a very productive means for machining multiple parts, greatly extending the time a machining center can run without operator intervention. GibbsCAM TMS (Tombstone Management System) streamlines multi-part setups to move more material through a machine tool while dramatically reducing the overall time required to create error-free machining processes.

.

Single Interface

The TMS dialog provides all the options needed to machine a tombstone full of parts— whether it's the same part duplicated in a number of locations, different faces of the same part, or different parts altogether

Flexible Part Layout

Define the tombstone, the multiple parts on it and how tools should move from part to part.

•Set up a standard configuration of parts where the same configuration is used on all sides of the tombstone.

•Set up a custom configuration to support multiple types of parts or part conditions that can vary from one side to the next.

.

Optimize Tool Changes

Group similar operations to control which operations should be performed together to minimize tool changes and rotations of the tombstone.

•Group operations by tool to machine all features—in order and across all parts, including those accessible on adjacent sides of the tombstone—with the same tool before the next tool change.

•Group operations by tool and coordinate system to complete all operations on a workpiece with the same tool before moving to the next.

•Because some tools may be used for several operations, the user has the option to have one tool perform only one operation in one group at a time.

.

Safe Retracts

Avoid collisions by defining the safe distance when moving from part to part on each face of the tombstone and when indexing from face to face of the tombstone.

.

Visual Verification

The Machine Simulation module provides visual verification of the complete setup—the tombstone, fixtures, and workpieces as well as critical components of the machine tool such as the rotary table, base plates, machine columns and so on. Apparent problems can be corrected easily by simply returning to the TMS dialog and modifying the input. Simulation also keeps track of X, Y, Z positions relative to the machine's travel limits to prevent the tool from exceeding the machine's travel capacity.

You need Adobe Flash Player to view this content.

.

Recently, JeffCNC customized good TMS (Tombstone Management System) POST, customer satisfied 100% for the program and don't need change anything. If you have any question or need any help please contact me: [email protected]

Compare GibbsCAM, EdgeCAM, MasterCAM and PowerMILL

Posted by JEFFCNC on December 9, 2012 at 1:20 PM Comments comments (8)

Compare GibbsCAM, EdgeCAM, MasterCAM and PowerMILL

JeffCNC

About training or self-learning

Most people say without a doubt GibbsCAM is far easier to learn, everything is graphical i.e. drag and drop. You can self-learning GibbsCAM if you download some training materials or videos from JeffCNC. Others CAM normally need professional training.

About intelligent programming

EdgeCAM is the only CAM system of intelligent programming. EdgeCAM can create toolpath easy based your solids feature and updated everything automatically if your model changed.

About 2D and 3D modeling

GibbsCAM is the best for 2D and 3D modeling. You can delete 2D geometry after create model and you can modify solid by many easy way. MasterCAM model should be problem if you delete 2D geometry; EdgeCAM and PowerMill should use other software for 3D modeling.

About machine and simulation

EdgeCAM is the best about 3D machine and simulation. By EdgeCAM simulation, you can show different machine parts and show where over cut or leave materials. EdgeCAM postprocessor include 3D machine model and setup everything already, you don’t need do anything just POST out your program. Others CAM need separate MDD and machinesim.

About macros and re-exportation

You can use GibbsCAM macros or EdgeCAM PCI macros for improve programming. JeffCNC create EdgeCAM PCI package for create VISE, TXT, DIM any point, X0Y0 and Z0 dimension. Use JeffCNC GibbsCAM macros, it's easy for customize various kinds Tool List; Show Tools information and G/M codes information; Especially, it's very easy for select Taps, Reamers and Drills, Drill always match Tap or Reamer.

About CAM version

GibbsCAM can save new CAM file for old version and GibbsCAM postprocessor good for different CAM version. Normally update CAM version good for user and progressive. But MasterCAM change postprocessor and CAM version frequently no good for different user exchange and cooperation.

About postprocessor

GibbsCAM has the most powerful Compost3 for customize good postprocessor whatever you want, especially the POST compiler as exe file, very fast and wonderful. JeffCNC customized good posts for customer. You don’t need change anything after Post, save time save money.

About CAM Poll

All CAM system are similar idea with strengths and weaknesses, but only GibbsCAM is very easy to learn and do good job, especially GibbsCAM can customize good POST, remember Good Post, Good Program;Save time save money. So for my opinion GibbsCAM is the best.

EdgeCAM is the only intelligent CAM system, easy create toolpath and updated everything automatically based solids feature. And EdgeCAM has good 3D machine simulation. So for my opinion EdgeCAM is the second one.

MasterCAM is the most popular CAM system and improved so many from dos system but still have many problems, especially MasterCAM change version frequently but no compatibility. So for my opinion MasterCAM is the third one.

PowerMILL is the professional system for Mould programming, same as CATIA and others special CAM system, different with normally turning and milling programming. So for my opinion PowerMILL is the fourth one for special only.

Thanks for you visiting JeffCNC website, you can poll your favourite CAM system on JeffCNC website. If you have any different opinion or require any assistance, please feel free to contact JeffCNC: [email protected]

Customize GibbsCAM MDD and Simulation

Customize GibbsCAM MDD and Simulation

JEFF CNC developing good GibbsCAM Postprocessor for CNC programming. Most people know good POST good program, it’s very important for programming. But in the mean time, we need good MDD (Machine Definition Document) and Machine simulation.

The MDD is an exact physical description of your machine, its tools, spindles and its axes. It is used by GibbsCAM to offer appropriate functionality.

Sometimes MDD doesn’t match your machine, even though we can change POST and get good NC codes, but is not the best way.

Gibbs MDD always follow CAM file automatically. You will get new MDD when you copy a special Gibbs CAM file; It’s so easy and good for you if you don’t have same MDD. But it’s very easy mix up different MDD and maybe doesn’t match your machine. It’s very dangerous for CNC programming and machining.

JEFFCNC can customize good MDD for you, and MDD can be related in JEFFCNC special POST. You will get good POST and good MDD, and guarantee no any problem for your program.

GibbsCAM Machine Simulation option is a 3D representation of a Machine Tool, the part and cutting tools that supplements the standard rendering component of GibbsCAM. Machine Simulation provides a machine-centric view of what is happening as opposed to the standard rendering which is part-centric.

You can customize Machine Simulation by GibbsCAM Machine Builder, a tool to create the models that represent the machine tool. Machine Simulation supports lathe, mill, advanced mill, rotary mill and Tombstone Machining System parts.

JEFFCNC can help you customize good Machine simulation for test and improve your program.

You can see 4Axis and 5Axis Machine Simulation samples, so simple but beautiful, good for showing in different angle.

4Axis Machine Simulation:

You don’t need worry about your parts position on tombstone. You can set your parts zero everywhere only keep all coordinated system in same zero. You don’t need change anything for Machine Simulation, it's very easy.

5Axis Machine Simulation:

If you have any question or need any help about GibbsCAM MDD and Machine Simulation, please contact me: [email protected]
